Are you passionate about ensuring superior functionality and optimization in the field of Telecommunications? As a CPE Tester with 3–5 years of experience, you will play a crucial role in analyzing, specifying, and testing customer-premises equipment (CPE) functionalities to ensure the highest quality standards for end-users. From requirements engineering and interface specification to working closely with manufacturers and conducting functional and frontend tests, you'll be at the heart of innovation and technical excellence.
Requirements Engineering & Interfaces
- Interface specification: Definition of interfaces between CPEs, ACS (TR-069/181/369-USP), and connectivity apps
- Vendor management: Identification and specification of missing CPE functionalities (e.g., EasyBox 805) and coordination with router manufacturers for implementation
- Requirements analysis: Structured translation of business/customer requirements into technical development specifications
Functionality & Frontend Testing (CPE/LAN/Wi-Fi)
- Wi-Fi optimization: Specification and testing of Wi-Fi 6/7, mesh protocols (802.11k/v/r), client steering, and MU-MIMO to improve signal quality in home networks, including repeaters
- LAN & routing: L2/L3 functionality, dual stack (IPv4/IPv6), PPPoE/IPoE, VLAN tagging, QoS, DHCP
- Telephony (VoIP): SIP registration against IMS, G.711/G.722, RTCP/RTCP-XR (RFC 3611) for measuring latency, jitter, and MOS values, load testing
- Frontend validation: Testing usability, security, responsiveness, and functionality of the local web GUI as well as mobile apps
Test Design & Acceptance (UAT)
- Test specification: Creation of detailed, structured test plans for functional, non-functional, and regression testing (firmware & app)
- Acceptance testing (UAT): Preparation, support, and execution of user acceptance tests prior to market launch/firmware release
- Error analysis (debugging): Protocol analysis using Wireshark (SIP, DHCP, TR-069)
To succeed as a CPE Tester, you should possess technical expertise and have tangible experience in telecommunications equipment, coupled with analytical and problem-solving skills. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure products meet the highest quality standards.
- You should have 3–5 years of experience in IP-Routing and Layer 2/3 protocols, including configurations such as IPv4/v6, VLAN-tagging, PPPoE/IPoE, and QoS settings.
- You are skilled in Wi-Fi performance with expertise in Wi-Fi management and optimization, including Mesh Networks.
- You have hands-on experience with auto-provisioning protocols such as TR-069, TR-181, TR-369, and TR-471.
- You are experienced in VoIP quality testing, including SIP, G.711/G.722 codecs, RTCP/RTCP-XR, and analog systems.
- You have demonstrated proficiency in hardware performance testing, including throughput, session management, and load endurance tests.
- Nice-to-have skills include a working knowledge of debugging tools, protocol analysis, and additional familiarity with Frontend validation testing.
- A degree or equivalent education in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field will be advantageous.
